Zellers fires poor dad for taking chocolate from trash for his kids.

By The Canadian Press, various newspapers across Canada, The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, Nova Scotti, December 21, 2005.

ST-HYACINTHE, Quebec A single father of three fired for taking chocolate bars from a garbage bin at a Sellers store will get some Christmas cheer from a charitable organization.

Guy Massey, 47, had planned to give the discarded chocolate to his children, ages six, nine and 15, for Christmas.

Massey, who was on welfare and had been working at the store only for a couple of months, was first suspended and then fired.

"I think its inhuman," Massey told CJAD radio station in Montreal of his dismissal.

Sellers, which is part of Toronto-based retailer Hudson's Bay Co., has said Massey should have notified his supervisor that he was taking the chocolate out of the garbage at the St-Hyacinthe store, about 50 kilometres east of Montreal.

"Its a very unfortunate situation. We would never have willingly let an associate go at this time of year without just cause," said HBC spokes woman Hillary South in an interview from Toronto.

"Unfortunately this associate breached the trust of his supervisors by removing merchandise from the store, and as a result, he was let go from his position."

Established in 1670, Hudson's Bay is Canadas largest department store chain and oldest company with more than 500 outlets, led by the Bay and Sellers chains.

Added South: "We have over 70,000 across Canada. They work so hard especially at this time of year. Its very upsetting that one bad employee tarnished the reputation of everybody else."

Montreal's Sun Youth Organization said Tuesday that Masses family will be provided for this Christmas.

"Its important to Sun Youth now that this family will have a Christmas that they deserve, food on the table and gifts for the kids," Sun Youths Tommy Kulcyzk told CJAD.

MY OPINION

I THINK THAT WHAT THIS GUY DO WAS VERE RESPECTFUL BECAUSE CHILDREN'S RECEIVE THE PRESENTS WITH OUT EVEN KNOW WHERE THEY CAME FROMAND THEY'RE HAPPY BUT THIS TIME THIS MAN GIVE THEM CHOCOLATES FOR CHRISTMAS, BUT THE THING THAT THE CHILDREN DONTNOW IS THAT HE TOKED FROMTHE TRASH BUT THE CHILDRESN WERE HAPPY BECASE THEY GET SOMETHIG FOR CRISTMAS FOR THEM THAT WAS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE ENOUGHT MONEY TO GET SOMTHIG FOR CRISTMAS SO THE MEN WORK FOR A VER GOOD COMPAY THEN HE GET FIRE CAUSE THE COMPANY DON'T THRUST HIM ANY MORE, SO I THIK THE GOVERNMENT OR THE COMPANY SAID THE THE CHILDRENS AND THEIR FAMILY ARE GOING TO HAVE A VERY AN NICE CHRISTMAS AND FOOD.

Interview with the studets.

I ask some friend of my about what they think about the children's in crisis or why they are trade bad. So they said that is so sad how they live an trade them ; they said that if they get money they will help them to have a better future, and better life but the real that it is we can't do,that the government should do that because this it going to keep going and we have to stopped children's have dreams and have felling also like as we're human and we are the same race it doesn't matter the skin color or the race. one of my friends said that some times we have everything and we don't wanted for example: sometime we have a good food or cloth and we don't liked or we don't wanted and those children's who needed don sent have anything so that what they told my about what they think abut the children's in crisis and why it is happening they said that have to change if all people help them with little bit of money, food but the most important thing help them.

FAMILY IN CRISIS

Mari A. Schaefer

Nov. 4--As coach of the Eagles, Andy Reid has excelled at keeping the lid on, brushing off questions about team controversies with a countenance as stony as Mount Rushmore.

That lid grew airtight when it came to problems at home, with Reid bolting from briefings when anyone dared to broach his sons' legal woes.

It therefore fell to a Montgomery County judge last week to publicly reckon with the dynamics of what he deemed "a family in crisis."

In skewering the structure and supervision in the Reids' Main Line home, Judge Steven T. O'Neill raised the conundrum facing countless other homes in which drug-addicted adult children still live: What is the parents' responsibility -- let alone their ability -- to monitor and control their grown children?

"You've got to take accountability of what goes on in the house," O'Neill told Reid and his wife, Tammy, in an extraordinary lecture Thursday at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown.

His remarks came as O'Neill sent the Reids' two oldest sons -- Garrett, 24, and Britt, 22 -- to county prison for up to 23 months each on gun- and drug-related crimes.

The sentencing hearing also laid bare the depths and duration of the Reid brothers' drug dependencies.

A presentence investigation revealed Garrett Reid to have been a street dealer in North Philadelphia and on the Main Line. Britt Reid's addiction, the investigation found, began at age 14 with painkillers prescribed after he hurt his back lifting weights at Harriton High School in Lower Merion Township.

He remains addicted to painkillers.

O'Neill reviewed those histories before a courtroom audience already stunned by news that 89 pills had been found that morning in Garrett Reid's jail cell as he was being brought to court.

Investigators concluded he had concealed them in his rectum before arriving at prison Tuesday evening. He had been ordered there after failing a routine drug test, and now faces additional charges of smuggling contraband.

"I have some real difficulty with the structure in which these two boys live," O'Neill said, noting the guns, ammunition and assortment of drugs that at various times had been in the Reids' home and cars. "What is the supervision?"

Mike Wood, a family therapist at the Livengrin Foundation for Addiction Recovery in Bensalem, noted that addicts are very manipulative and creative, good at concealing things. It may be unfair to hold parents accountable for them into adulthood, he said.

why the children explotation?

Child exploitation is one of the biggest problem of the plane. It is increasing constantly. More than 250 millions children between the age 5 and 14 work in the world; it adds up to 11,5 million teens between the age of 15 and 17. Most of them live in countries of the third world, Asia, Africa, but also in Europe, and North America. In certain countries like India, Indonesia as well Bangladesh, the children represent 10 at 15% of the labor force.Up to now, dealing was mainly associate with the trade of the product. However during the las ten years, we have seem more and more children being sold. What is the most difficult thing for the children it is that they must defend their life every day to face up to the violence of all forms physical, verbal or psychological.

A work carried out by a child can be qualified as exploitation when:

4 The child must work full- time at an early age.
4 The child must assume too heavy responsibilities.
4The child not paid equitably for the work that it does.
4The work robs the child of his dignity and his self-esteem The only way
to progress in the fight against the child labor is to tell the consummer
and the government exert some pressure in refusing to buy or in ceasing to
import the manufactured items made by children.

children's domestic exploitation reached today the developed countries. It is difficult to the delimit this phenomenon that usually concern young girl. They have black or dark color skin. They being to work between the age of 10 and 12 sometimes work more than 8 hours a day. The victims of domestic exploitation are more vulnerable and it is difficult to protect them. More so, they are often very badly paid, sometimes not at all and their working conditions depend of their employer.
The child often undertake a too heavy work load. They wash, cook clean and take care of the children.they sleep on the floor or in the children's bedroom.

My research

I write this topic because is very sad how this kind of children are trade, and how the bad people abuse them.Every month a receive information of different children, and they send you a letter, and a envelope, the letter is about how they are trade, and how we can help them, the envelope is if you wanna help them with money. So Every moth I send money to two of them because I like ti help them. Before I tough all this was false because I didn't believe I just think that maybe people just want you to expend your money. Also I was thinking the slavery just exist in the poor countries, like Africa,Asia, etc. But that is not true because in the rich countries exist too, like:France,Europe, etc. If I should have to much money I will went to those countries and help them to get their freedoms.

I feel sad because we should help them and give them a different kind of life or we should buy them to get their freedom. For example on TV they announce some commercials that they tell us how you can or help a children.

How childrens are trade

C Q Researcher Aug.31 2001.Volume 11,Nov 29.

In September Unite State decide to stop the global explotation of children. Millions of children are kidnapped and used as Soldiers or sold into sexual bondage or force labor.Twenty millions live on the streets of third world cities, and ten millions suffer or die because of malnutrition. Many child advocates want the unite states t commit more money to the U.N.S Aids war chest.

Children were consigned to factory life by their own parents for economic reasons. In large cities, children as young 6 often worked alongside their provety-strapped parents, Tens or Thousand of Young girl worked as domestics, while boys hawked newspaper or sold trinkets on the streets.

Trafficking in Boys and Girls.
Children as young as 6 are forced to toil in sweatshops, agricultural fields and brothers. It is incomprehensible that trafficking in human beings should be tasking place in the 21 st century; U.S secretary of state Colin L Powell said this summer. It's Incomprehensible but it's true very true.Trafficking has long been prevalent in Albania, where young women and girl are frequently abducted or tricked through employment scams and sold to pimps and brothers in Italy, Greece and other European nations. And south Korean girls are frequently trafficked for sexual exploitation to the Unite States and other western countries. In some societies, parents sell their children to more affluent friends relatives or strangers in the hope that they will have better lives.
